The Art Deco-architecture became, in contrast to other Art-Deco-disciplines, not mastered by the French but by the Americans. The buildings created for the International Exposition in Paris in 1925 of Ornamental Arts and Modern Industrials belonged for the largest part to Art Deco, but these buildings only stayed temporary. Later designers only know them of photographs and drawings. Purists claim nevertheless that those art deco buildings. formed the only real Art Deco that ever existed.

The villa, well-known as "Villa Lalemant" was built in 1928. After the world exhibition in Ghent in 1919, the villa was constructed in an Art-Deco style, typical for that time period. The neighborhood is locally known as the Millionaires Quarter.
The name of the street "Krijgslaan", which means "Combat Lane", has its origins in the fact that it was a connection between the city centre and a military domain.

HET ZWEMBAD was de moeilijkste realisatie en was in het begin een dubbeltje op zijn kant. Het was wel een must en een uitdaging, zeker om dit geheel in het bestaande pand in te bouwen, de nodige aanpassingen te doen en zeker om aan de Vlaamse “Vlarem” normen te voldoen. Verschillende malen was spitsvondigheid nodig, praktisch inzicht en af en toe een zucht. Gelukkig konden we beroep doen op mensen met gezond verstand en doorzettingsvermogen. Het was soms een lijdensweg maar uiteindelijk werd het zwembad een succes!
